We’ve hit a major milestone!
I wanted to hit the regular deadline in August but ran long. As I was finishing the last voiceover part, I sat with it for a while and in the end, it didn’t work, so I spent another week finding an alternative and implementing the new idea. It’s simple and it works.
I then rendered out the movie for upload to FilmFreeway and filled out the Sundance application with only hours to spare.

WHAT’S NEXT
It’s common for festivals to allow entry with works-in-progress, and that’s what we have with our submission. Over the next few weeks, I’m going to keep working on the cut and when it’s ready, I’ll upload a new version to FilmFreeway.
Film festival entry deadlines are usually about 6 months prior to the festival (we won’t even find out if we’re accepted until early December) so that means if we’re accepted, we have a lot of time left to finish two last post-production tasks.
Two final post-production tasks:
- Three of the Four movie reels were treated with digital dustbusting. Reel #4 needs the same treatment (roughly it’s a 2 to 3 week process). TIMELINE FOR COMPLETION: Mid-October.
- The last VFX sequence where we needed to go with our plan B since plan A did not work out as well as planned. I should be able to shoot the elements we need in October or November as I need to be back in Texas to do it. November is looking good. TIMELINE FOR COMPLETION: Mid-December.
Stay tuned for more info on these last items and info on a possible screening for project patrons.
